TRICARE Reserve Select
TRICARE Reserve Select is a premium-based health plan for Selected Reserve members and their family members who qualify. If you qualify, you may buy coverage at any time. The sponsor must buy TRICARE Reserve Select for family members to have coverage.
Step 1: Qualify
- You must be a member of the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve. Includes:
- Army National Guard
- Army Reserve
- Navy Reserve
- Marine Corps Reserve
- Air National Guard
- Air Force Reserve
- Coast Guard Reserve
- You must not be eligible for, or enrolled in, the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program.
Note: This exclusion ends Jan. 1, 2030.
Note: Are you an Individual Ready Reserve member? If so, you don't qualify. This includes Navy Reserve Voluntary Training Units.
Step 2: Buy
Online
To buy TRICARE Reserve Select online, you must have a milConnect account.
- Log in to milConnect.
- Select "Benefits," then "Beneficiary Web Enrollment."
- Select "Purchase Coverage" and follow the instructions to enroll.
Tip: Don't select FEHB if you aren't a federal employee. Otherwise, you won't qualify for TRICARE Reserve Select. If you don't qualify, you won't be able to complete or print the form.

You may submit an enrollment request at a TRICARE Service Center.
Mail or fax your completed Reserve Component Health Coverage Request Form (DD Form 2896-1) to your regional contractor within the specified deadline. You must include the initial premium payment.

Don't Just Stop Making Payments
If you don't follow the correct steps to end your coverage and you simply stop making premium payments, your coverage is terminated. During this time, you're still responsible for any premium amounts that are due.myAuth is replacing DS Logon for milConnect access. Learn more about the myAuth transition.
Attention TRICARE Users: myAuth will roll out in phases. This began with milConnect and ID Card Office Online on May 21. Over time, all DOD applications that use DS Logon will transition to myAuth.
