TRICARE Prime Remote
TRICARE Prime Remote is available in designated remote locations in the U.S. for:
- Active duty service members
- ActivatedCalled or ordered to active duty service for more than 30 days in a row. National Guard and Reserve members called or ordered to active duty service for more than 30 days in a row. (Pre‐activation, pre‐mobilization, pre-deployment, and TDY orders aren’t eligible.)
- Active duty family members who live with TPR-enrolled sponsor
- Family members of activated National Guard and Reserve members, if the family members live in a designated remote location when the sponsor is activated and continue to live at that address.
- If your sponsor dies, TRICARE Prime Remote is available to surviving spouses for three years.
To see if you live in a designated remote location, you can:
- Check your ZIP code in the TRICARE Plan Finder.
- Call your regional contractor.
Step 1: Choose a Primary Care Manager
If there are network providers in your area, you’ll list a network provider as your primary care manager. Find a network PCM in your region:
If a network PCM isn’t available, you can choose any TRICARE-authorized providerAn authorized provider is any individual, institution/organization, or supplier that is licensed by a state, accredited by national organization, or meets other standards of the medical community, and is certified to provide benefits under TRICARE. There are two types of TRICARE-authorized providers: Network and Non-Network. DS as your PCM. Call your regional contractor first to make sure the provider is certified.
Step 2: Complete the Enrollment Application
- Enroll all family members on one enrollment form.
- If you have questions or special circumstances, you can call your regional contractor first to discuss your options.

1 You can only enroll online if you live in a Prime Service Area. You need a Common Access Card (CAC), DFAS (MyPay) account, or DS Logon to log in to the Beneficiary Web Enrollment website.
Step 3: Get Started With TRICARE Prime Remote
Your regional contractor will notify you when your enrollment is processed. Once enrolled, you can log in to milConnect to download your enrollment card and get your PCM’s name and telephone number.
You may stay enrolled in TRICARE Prime Remote even if your sponsor is deployed to another location as long as you don't move from the place where you're enrolled.
