Whole Person Health

Whole person health means looking at your overall health needs; not just specific conditions. It also means taking steps to improve your health in many ways. The aim of this approach is to restore health, build resilience to stress, and prevent diseases throughout life.

Consider health and disease as a path with two directions: one leads to better health, and the other leads to illness. Many factors influence this path, such as family health history, unhealthy habits like poor diet and lack of exercise, chronic stress, and insufficient sleep. Social factors, like where you were born, raised, and live, also play a role. These factors can lead to chronic diseases affecting multiple organ systems. However, self-care and healthy lifestyle choices can help you return to better health.

Illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and join problems, can happen with chronic pain, depression and opioid use. Unfortunately, these conditions are worsened by chronic stress. If you know your living conditions, tackle unhealthy behaviors and manage stress, you can prevent many illnesses and help restore health.
