EFMP & ECHO

If your sponsor is an active duty sponsor, your child will need to enroll in the Exceptional Family Member Program and register in Extended Care Health Option to receive ABA services.

EFMP

The EFMP helps family members with medical or educational needs by connecting families with resources and support. Each military branch has its own EFMP enrollment process.

Find Your Local EFMP Office

ECHO

The ECHO benefit gives extra TRICARE benefits to family members with special needs. Your child can start using ECHO services during a 90-day provisional period while you complete the registration process. To avoid any gaps in services, you need to complete registration as there are no extensions to the 90-day provisional period.

To qualify for ECHO, your child must have one of the following diagnoses:

  • ASD
  • Moderate to severe intellectual disability
  • Serious physical disability
  • Extraordinary physical or psychological disorder

ECHO organizes many medical services to help lessen the effects of qualifying conditions. The benefits related to ASD through ECHO include:

  • 16 hours of respite care monthly
  • Diapers and other medical supplies
  • Assistive technology
  • Training for special education devices
