TRICARE is a health program for:
- Uniformed service members and their families
- National Guard and Reserve members and their families
- Survivors
- Former spouses
- Medal of Honor recipients and their families
- Others registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System
TRICARE is a healthcare program. It isn’t an agency and it doesn’t determine eligibility. The sponsor’s uniformed service decides who is eligible for TRICARE and reports it in DEERS.
Types of Beneficiaries
- Sponsors: Active duty, retired and National Guard and Reserve members
- Family members: Spouses and children who are registered in DEERS
