Coronary Artery Disease
The heart, the hardest working muscle, works best when it receives enough oxygen. The heart receives oxygen from blood vessels called coronary arteries. Blocked or tightened coronary arteries is a condition called coronary artery disease. Blocked or tightened coronary arteries may result in possible heart failure.
What are the Symptoms of Coronary Artery Disease?
- Chest pain: May feel like tightness or heaviness.
- Shortness of breath: Unable to catch your breath.
- Irregular heartbeat: Heart feels like it’s racing or pounding.
- Other pain or discomfort: Pain radiates to other parts of the body such as jaw, arm, or stomach.
Visit your provider if symptoms continue.
What Causes It?
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Smoking
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Unhealthy diet
- Family history
Your provider will review your medical history and determine if more testing is necessary. TRICARE covers testing that is requested and necessary for ongoing care.
