Child and Adolescent Health
Child and adolescent health are key life stages for wellness. Well-child care, physicals, developmental milestones, immunizations, and other routine appointments, are important to your child’s overall well-being.
What is Well-child Care?
Well-child care visits are preventive care from newborn to 6 years old. Care includes:
- Routine newborn care
- Health supervision examinations
- Routine immunizations
- Periodic health screening
- Developmental assessment
Newborn — Hello Parenthood!
Enroll your newborn in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System within 30 days after the child is born. Schedule the first well-child care visit before leaving the hospital. The first visit is the perfect time to talk with your child’s provider about an overall plan of care. Prepare for your first visit with questions or concerns.
The Next 5 Years
The next five years will play an important role in your child’s growth. Discuss with your child’s primary care manager:
- Developmental milestones
- Physical growth
- Food intake
- Sleep schedule/sleep issues
- Behavioral concerns
- Dental care
