During a transfer of data, some beneficiaries were inadvertently dropped from TRICARE eligibility. If you experience trouble accessing health care before this situation is resolved, please contact your TRICARE contractor for assistance.
The Military Health System (MHS) is a global, comprehensive, integrated system. Depending on your plan, you’ll get care from a military hospital or clinic, a civilian network of providers, or TRICARE-authorized non-network providers.
The Defense Health Agency operates military hospitals and clinics around the world. You may be able to seek care at a military hospital or clinic, depending on where you are, what plan you have, and your beneficiary category. >>Learn More
Civilian Network
You can also seek care from a civilian network of TRICARE-authorized providers. This network depends on what region you are in. >>Learn More
To search for a provider in one of our provider directories, visit the Find a Doctor tool to get you to the right directory for you. >>Learn More
Note: You may be able to see a non-network TRICARE-authorized provider, depending on your TRICARE plan. But you may have higher costs and you may to file your own claims. >>Learn More
How do I get care based on my plan?
When you enroll in a TRICARE Prime option, you’ll get most of your routine care from an assigned or selected primary care manager (PCM).
Your PCM may be:
At a military hospital or clinic
A civilian TRICARE network provider
A primary care provider under US Family Health Plan (USFHP)
With TRICARE Select and our premium-based plans, you can get care from any TRICARE-authorized network provider without a referral or pre-authorization, in most situations. You’ll have lower out-of-pocket costs if you use a TRICARE-authorized network provider versus a TRICARE-authorized non-network provider. If you choose a non-authorized non-network provider, you won’t be reimbursed by TRICARE. To find a TRICARE network provider, go to www.tricare.mil/findaprovider or call your regional contractor.
You can get care from any TRICARE-authorized provider, but finding a Medicare participating provider is your best option. If overseas, you’ll work with the overseas contractor to find an approved overseas provider. >>Learn More
When not enrolled in a TRICARE plan, you are only eligible to get care at military hospitals and clinics on a space-available basis. Any care received from a civilian provider is not covered by TRICARE.
