Tobacco Cessation Services

TRICARE provides services, drugs and support to help you quit tobacco. You don’t need to be diagnosed with a tobacco-related illness to use tobacco cessation benefits. To learn more about tobacco cessation resources, visit the tobacco cessation page.

These benefits are available to all beneficiaries who aren’t eligible for Medicare. 

  • Tobacco cessation counseling is currently covered under Medicare Part B.
  • If you’re eligible for Medicare, you must use Medicare for these types of services.

TRICARE covers tobacco cessation counseling from TRICARE-authorized providers in the U.S.
Tobacco cessation products

TRICARE covers prescription and over-the-counter tobacco cessation products at no cost.

  • You must have a prescription from a TRICARE-authorized providerAn authorized provider is any individual, institution/organization, or supplier that is licensed by a state, accredited by national organization, or meets other standards of the medical community, and is certified to provide benefits under TRICARE. There are two types of TRICARE-authorized providers: Network and Non-Network. DS.
  • Tobacco cessation products are covered through home delivery or at a military pharmacy.
  • Available in the U.S. to all (non-Medicare) beneficiaries ages 18 and older
  • Available overseas and in U.S. Territories to active duty service members and family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime Overseas
