Vitamins
TRICARE covers vitamins and food, food substitutes, or supplements only for home internal nutrition therapy, such as prescribed for people with cancer.
TRICARE covers formulas and vitamins for enrollees with metabolic disorders, such as:
- Inborn errors of metabolism
- Medical conditions of malabsorption
- Pathologies of the alimentary or gastrointestinal tract
- Neurological or physiological conditions
TRICARE also covers low protein modified food and amino acid preparation products for dietary management of individuals with limited or impaired capacity. Medical supervision and a prescription are required, among other specific criteria.
TRICARE doesn’t cover:
- Multivitamins
- Megavitamins
