Tobacco Cessation Services

TRICARE provides services, drugs and support to help you quit tobacco. You don’t need to be diagnosed with a tobacco-related illness to use tobacco cessation benefits.

These benefits are available to all beneficiaries who aren’t eligible for Medicare. 

  • Tobacco cessation counseling is currently covered under Medicare Part B.
  • If you’re eligible for Medicare, you must use Medicare for these types of services.

Tobacco cessation products

TRICARE covers prescription and over-the-counter tobacco cessation products at no cost.

  • You must have a prescription from a TRICARE-authorized providerAn authorized provider is any individual, institution/organization, or supplier that is licensed by a state, accredited by national organization, or meets other standards of the medical community, and is certified to provide benefits under TRICARE. There are two types of TRICARE-authorized providers: Network and Non-Network. DS.
  • Tobacco cessation products are covered through home delivery or at a military pharmacy.
  • Available in the U.S. to all (non-Medicare) beneficiaries ages 18 and older
  • Available overseas and in U.S. Territories to active duty service members and family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime Overseas
