What is the point-of-service option?
With the point-of-service option, you can get care without a referral from any TRICARE-authorized providerAn authorized provider is any individual, institution/organization, or supplier that is licensed by a state, accredited by national organization, or meets other standards of the medical community, and is certified to provide benefits under TRICARE. There are two types of TRICARE-authorized providers: Network and Non-Network. DS. If you use this option, you will pay a $300 deductible ($600 family deductible) and 50% of the TRICARE allowable chargeThe maximum amount TRICARE pays for each procedure or service. This is tied by law to Medicare's allowable charges.. It applies to the plans below:
- TRICARE Prime
- TRICARE Prime Overseas
- TRICARE Prime Remote
- TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas
- TRICARE Young Adult-Prime
- US Family Health Plan
Note: If you're an active duty service member, you can't use the point-of-service option.
