Ovary Removal (Prophylactic Oophorectomy)
TRICARE covers prophylactic oophorectomy (removal of the ovaries before development of cancerous cells) when there is a positive BRCA genetic test and one of the following:
- A first degree family history of ovarian cancer (e.g., parent, child, sibling)
- A 2+2nd degree relative history of ovarian cancer (two or more second degree relatives).
