Midwife Services
TRICARE covers midwife services provided by a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). The CNM must be:
- Certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
- State licensed (when state requires it).
You may get midwife services from a registered nurse who isn’t a CNM if you have a physician's referral and supervision.
TRICARE doesn't cover midwife services by a lay midwife, Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) or Certified Midwife (CM).
Do you live overseas? Home births aren’t usually covered. Contact the overseas contractor to see if it’s an option.
