Are Diabetes Screenings Covered?
Your Primary Care Manager (PCM) will decide if you need a screening. Talk to your provider about your risk factors.
What is the A1C Test?
The A1C test helps identify prediabetes and diabetes by showing your average blood sugar levels over the past two to three months.
What are the Signs of Diabetes?
Symptoms may include:
- Frequent urination
- Extreme thirst or hunger
- Unexplained weight loss
- Blurry vision
- Fatigue
- Dry skin
- Slow healing sores
- Infections more than usual
Am I at Risk?
Risk factors for diabetes include:
- Being overweight
- Being 45 or older
- Family history of Type 2 diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Low High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and/or high triglycerides
- Low physical activity
- Had gestational diabetes
- Are African American, Hispanic/Latino American, American Indian, Pacific Islander or Alaska native
- Diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
