TRICARE covers colorectal cancer screenings based on your risk. For average risk, screenings start at age 45. Options include:

  • Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) every year
  • Colonoscopy every ten years
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years

For increased risk, different timelines apply based on family history. High-risk individuals may need more frequent screenings.

  • Persistent stomach pain
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Changes in bowel habits

Am I at Risk?

Most colorectal cancer cases occur in people aged 50 and older. Other risk factors include:

  • Being overweight
  • Use alcohol
  • Tobacco use
