Special Needs
TRICARE offers several services under the basic TRICARE benefit for beneficiaries with special needs:
- Applied Behavior Analysis
- Cancer Clinical Trials
- Durable Medical Equipment
- Home Health Care
- Hospice Care
- Mental Health Care
- Skilled Nursing Facility Care
TRICARE also has several special programs that provide services beyond the basic TRICARE benefit for beneficiaries with special needs.
NOTE: Long term care isn't covered. TRICARE (and Medicare) don't cover long term care--services that assist in the activities of daily living. You may purchase long term care insurance from a private insurer, and you may qualify for the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program.
Are you moving?
Talk to your child’s case manager and regional contractor before you move. They can help you find a new doctor and other resources so the transition is smooth with no interruptions in coverage.
