You can only switch plans during the TRICARE Open Season or with a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). Changes you make during the TRICARE Open Season go into effect January 1 of the following year. Note: If you're a TRICARE Prime enrollee who lives in a US Family Health Plan (USFHP) area, you can change your TRICARE Prime primary care manager (PCM) to a USFHP PCM (or vice versa) at any time. You don't have to wait for the TRICARE Open Season or a QLE. |
| TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) enrollee | You can switch from the TYA-Prime Option to the TYA-Select Option (or vice versa) at any time. You don't have to wait for the TRICARE Open Season or a QLE. |
