I just got married, how do I sign-up my spouse for TRICARE?

It’s a 2-step process:

Step 1. You need to register your spouse in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System(DEERS) A database of information on uniformed services members (sponsors), U.S.-sponsored foreign military, DoD and uniformed services civilians, other personnel as directed by the DoD, and their family members. You need to register in DEERS to get TRICARE. (DEERS) by visiting a uniformed services ID card-issuing facility and providing the required documentation. Visit the RAPIDS ID Card Office Online to find a facility near you.

Step 2. You need to enroll your spouse in a TRICARE plan. To learn more, visit the Getting Married page.  If your spouse has Medicare, go to the Becoming Medicare-eligible page to learn more about their options.

Getting married is a Qualifying Life Event. You have 90 days from the date of marriage to get coverage for your spouse and to make changes to your health plan. Visit the Qualifying Life Event page to learn more.

Note: This also applies to same-sex spouses.
