Radiation Therapy
TRICARE may cover radiation oncology in the following forms—when safe, effective, and comparable or superior to the standard of care—for certain indications:
- Radiation therapy, including brachytherapy, fast neutron, hyperfractionated, and radioactive chromic phosphate synoviorthesis
- Hyperthermia, except in the treatment of breast cancer
- Gamma Knife radiosurgery/radiotherapy
- Linear accelerator radiosurgery/radiotherapy
- Proton beam radiosurgery/radiotherapy
- Helium ion beam radiosurgery/radiotherapy
- Frameless stereotaxy (neuronavigation)
- Extracranial stereotactic radiosurgery/radiotherapy
- High energy neutron radiation treatment
- Selective internal radiation therapy
