Nutritionist or Dietitian Services
TRICARE covers a limited set of services from a nutritionist or registered dietitian. This nutritionist or registered dietitian must:

Have a license from the state in which you get the care

Be under the supervision of a physician for the treatment
For example, TRICARE covers services:

You get during an inpatient hospital stay

You get during a doctor’s office visit

You get through diabetes self-management training

For the treatment of certain conditions. These include inborn errors of metabolism, medical conditions of malabsorption, pathologies of the alimentary tract or the gastrointestinal tract, and a neurological or physiological condition.

For medical nutritional therapy or counseling

For other authorized covered services that are . These include the treatment of anorexia nervosa or obesity.
In addition, many military hospitals and clinics have nutrition clinics. You can make an appointment with a registered dietitian or attend nutrition classes at these clinics.
