Epidural Injections
TRICARE may cover:
- Steroid injections for the treatment of pain due to symptomatic thoracic disc herniation. The patient must have pain that is radicular and unresponsive to conservative treatment
- Injections for treatment of pain after a surgery
- External and implantable infusion pumps for pain that is difficult to control
- Internal infusion pumps for the treatment of long-lasting, difficult to manage pain in patients who haven’t responded to less invasive medical therapy. Patients must also have a life expectancy of at least three months. Documentation must be provided for TRICARE to consider a claim.
TRICARE also covers epidural anesthesia for a woman’s pain management during delivery of a baby as part of the global maternity care benefit.
