Bone Density Study

TRICARE covers bone density studies, also known as DXA or DEXA scans, for:

  • Diagnosis and monitoring of osteoporosis or osteopenia
  • Patients with signs and symptoms of bone disease or those at high risk for developing osteoporosis

TRICARE doesn’t cover bone density studies for the routine screening of osteoporosis.
