Does TRICARE cover Omnipod products?
It depends on the device you need. TRICARE covers the:
- Omnipod Classic gen 3 and Omnipod DASH gen 4 under your medical and pharmacy benefits.
- Omnipod 5 under your retail pharmacy benefit. You can’t get it via TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery or at a military pharmacy. It’s not covered overseas.
- Your prescription must show “dispense as written”.
- You need a pre-authorization.
- You’ll pay the brand-name copaymentA fixed dollar amount you may pay for a covered health care service or drug..
- If you use a non-network pharmacy, you’ll pay the full price and must file a claim for reimbursement.
The classic or generation 3 Omnipod discontinued at the end of 2023. Speak with your provider about an upgrade.
Note: If you have TRICARE For Life coverage and live in the U.S. or a U.S. Territory, you must also follow Medicare’s rules.
