How do I get a copy of my medical records?

 

It depends on the type of record and where you got care.

Type of Record Records from a military hospital or clinic (both overseas and stateside) in MHS GENESIS Records from a military hospital or clinic not in MHS GENESIS  Records from a Civilian Provider
 Medical Records
  1. Log in to MHS GENESIS.
  2. Select the Health Records tab.
  3. Select the records you want to see.

You can view or print your records. 

You'll need to request a physical copy from your military hospital or clinic's records management office. 

Visit the Request Archived Health Records page to learn how to get copies of your archived records.

If you got care from a civilian provider (including overseas) you must request a copy from each individual health care provider. You may have to pay a fee for copying or mailing your medical records.

Note: If you are an active duty service member, you aren’t responsible for fees charged for copying records of authorized care. If charged, you can file a claim with your contractor for reimbursement.

 
 Prescription Records
  1.  Log in to MHS GENESIS.
  2. From the More tab, select the Medications option.

You can view or print your records.
