How much do I pay for birth control?
For prescription contraceptives (for example, birth control pill and diaphragm) you pay your pharmacy copaymentA fixed dollar amount you may pay for a covered health care service or drug.. Use the TRICARE Formulary Search Tool to see your costs.
Medical Contraceptives:
You don't pay for the medical contraceptives below if you get the service from a TRICARE network provider.
- Insertion, removal, and repositioning of an IUD (intrauterine device)
- Birth control shot; and
- Birth control implant.
You don’t pay for tubal sterilization (tubes tied) if you get the service from a TRICARE network provider.
If you use a non-network provider, you will pay for the service.
For a vasectomy, your costs depend on:
- Who you are (active duty family member, retiree, etc.);
- Your beneficiary group (group A or B); and
- The plan you're using (TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Select, TRICARE Prime Overseas, etc.).
