Hysterectomy

TRICARE covers hysterectomy procedures for:

• Treatment of disease
• Women who are about to undergo or are undergoing tamoxifen therapy
• Women who have been diagnosed with hereditary non-polyposiscolorectal cancer (HNPCC) or are found to be carriers of HNPCC-associated mutations

TRICARE doesn't cover hysterectomy procedures performed:

• Solely for sterilization in the absence of pathology
• Only to preserve sexual function or to prevent postoperative complications
