Is it covered?
TRICARE covers home healthcare when you meet the coverage requirements.
Description
Home healthcare is medical care you receive in your home to help you recover from or manage an illness or injury.
The home health services covered by TRICARE are the same as those covered by Medicare. Covered services may include:
- Part-time and intermittent skilled nursing care
- Home health aide services
- Physical, speech, and occupational therapy
- Medical social services
Requirements
To get home healthcare:
- You must get care from a participating home health agency.
- You must get pre-authorization.
Do you have TRICARE For Life? If you live in the U.S. or a U.S. territory, you must follow Medicare’s rules for getting home health services.
Costs
You don’t have out-of-pocket costs for covered home healthcare services. You may have separate costs for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, and specific drugs.
This list of covered services isn’t all-inclusive. TRICARE covers services that are medically necessary and considered proven. Some services have special rules or limits, and some services are excluded. Learn how a benefit becomes covered.
