What is TRICARE Reserve Select?
TRICARE Reserve Select is a health plan for members of the Selected Reserve and their families. TRICARE Reserve Select is available worldwide. You must qualify to enroll. To learn more, visit the TRICARE Reserve Select page.
Costs:
- You pay a monthly premium.
- Your costs depend on the type of care you get (for example, outpatient care).
- Use the TRICARE Compare Cost Tool to see your out-of-pocket cost.
Providers:
- You may see any TRICARE-authorized provider. To pay less, use network providers.
- If you live in the Philippines, you must go to specific providers. To learn more, visit the Providers in the Philippines page.
- If you live outside the Philippines, you can see any overseas provider.
- You may get care at a military hospital or clinic if space is available.
Referrals and Authorizations:

- You need preauthorization for some procedures and treatments. For example, you may see a pain specialist without a referral, but you would still need approval for some pain treatments.
