May I see my spouse and children’s health records via the Secure Patient Portal?
You may not see your spouse’s health record data.
Depending on the type of health data, you may see your child’s records up to a certain age. State and federal laws protect the privacy of individuals age 13 and older.
Minors ages 12 and under: You can access all information online.
Minors ages 13-17: You can only view appointments, messaging, immunizations, and allergy care.
In overseas locations, the host nation may have different laws. If there is no local law, the provider can decide if the patient is a “mature minor.” The patient mut be 15 or older and, in the opinion of the provider, able to make important decisions for themselves.
You may ask for a hardcopy of personal health data for your child age 12-17. To do so, visit your military hospital or clinic. Your child may need to give permission in writing.
The Department of Defense allows proxy access for children with special healthcare needs. You will need to provide legal documentation. See the DS Logon Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
