How do I start or cancel my allotment payments?
Setting up your allotment:
Call your TRICARE regional contractor to set up your allotment.
To make sure your allotment starts on the first of the following month, call your contractor at least one week before the eighth business day of the month. This gives the contractor time to meet their deadline to send updates to your service’s pay center.
The contractor may ask for up to three months of payment to give time for your allotment to process. This helps prevent disenrollment for nonpayment. Don’t stop making payments until you confirm your allotment start date with the contractor.
For example, if you want your allotment to start on July 1, you should contact your regional contractor in early June.
The contractor will let you know within five business days of rejection if your service’s pay center can’t process your allotment. They’ll also send you an invoice for any outstanding enrollment fees.
Cancelling your allotment:
Call your regional contractor to cancel your allotment.
To cancel your allotment on the first of the following month, call your contractor at least one week before the eighth business day of the month. This gives the contractor time to meet their deadline to send updates to your service’s pay center.
For example, if you want your allotment to end in July, you should contact your regional contractor in early June.
If you’re switching to a different form of payment, make sure you set it up to avoid being disenrolled for nonpayment.
If you’re cancelling your allotment because you’ll no longer be enrolled in a plan, your regional contractor will issue you a refund for any overpayments.
Note: You can also start and stop allotments through your service’s pay center. If you set up an allotment this way, contact your regional contractor to confirm there are no gaps in payment.
