Does TRICARE cover Wegovy, Ozempic, and Mounjaro?
TRICARE covers Wegovy, Saxenda, and Zepbound for weight management if you have coverage under one of these plans:
- TRICARE Prime
- TRICARE Prime Remote
- US Family Health Plan
- TRICARE Select
- TRICARE Young Adult
- TRICARE Reserve Select
- TRICARE Retired Reserve
- Continued Health Care Benefit Program
You must:
- Meet TRICARE’s clinical criteria
- Have a prescription from a network provider.
- Have your provider complete a prior authorization form and medical necessity (Saxenda).
TRICARE doesn’t cover weight loss drugs for:
- TRICARE For Life beneficiaries
- Note: Beginning July 1, 2026, Medicare Part D covers certain weight loss drugs under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program. If you don’t currently have Part D, learn when you can choose to enroll.
- Individuals with direct care coverage
- Certain other groups
You will pay 100% of the cost for your weight loss drugs even if you have an approved prior authorization.
TRICARE covers Trulicity, Ozempic, Victoza and Mounjaro to treat type 2 diabetes. You must:
- Meet TRICARE’s clinical criteria.
- Have your provider fill out prior authorization and medical necessity forms
Note: Trulicity has a lower copayment. Your provider must fill out a prior authorization form unless you have documentation for any other diabetes drug in your TRICARE pharmacy record in the last 720 days
