Does TRICARE cover COVID-19 at-home test kits?

TRICARE covers an at-home COVID-19 test if it's medically necessaryTo be medically necessary means it is appropriate, reasonable, and adequate for your condition. and FDA-approved. You don’t pay for an at-home test when a TRICARE authorized provider orders or prescribes the test. If you buy an at-home test without medical necessity (for example, to test yourself before travel), TRICARE won't pay on your claim. You may be eligible to get up to 8 free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests on COVID.gov.

Note: The Presidential mandate that requires insurance companies and health plans to cover 8 free at-home tests per person per month, doesn't apply to TRICARE or Medicare.
