What is the difference between the TOL Patient Portal and MHS GENESIS?

The TOL Patient Portal is a secure system to help you manage your individual or family health care online. With the TOL Patient Portal, you can:

  • Make appointments
  • Cancel and reschedule appointments
  • Have E-Visits
  • Get prescription refills
  • Request prescription refills
  • View laboratory tests results
  • View selected radiology reports

Military hospitals and clinics are in the process of phasing out the TOL Patient Portal. MHS GENESIS is the Department of Defense's new electronic health record. It will replace the TOL Patient Portal. With MHS GENESIS, you can:

  • Make appointments
  • Cancel and reschedule appointments
  • View, download and transmit your health data
  • View clinic notes and certain laboratory and test results
  • Exchange messages with your health care team
  • Complete a pre-visit, dental health history questionnaire online (active duty only)
  • Look up health information about your health concerns, results, and prescriptions

To learn more about MHS GENESIS, visit the MHS GENESIS: The Electronic Health Record page. To register or to access MHS GENESIS, visit the MHS GENESIS site.

Note: Once your military hospital or clinic transitions to MHS GENESIS, you’ll only have access to your new records in MHS GENESIS. You should download or print your records from the TOL Patient Portal before your military hospital or clinic transitions.
