Infertility Diagnosis and Treatment

TRICARE covers the diagnosis and treatment of the underlying physical causes of male and female infertility. These include:

• Diagnostic services like:

  • Semen analysis

  • Hormone evaluation

  • Chromosomal studies

  • Immunologic studies

  • Imaging studies

  • Special and sperm function tests

  • Bacteriologic investigation

• Treatments like:

  • Procedures to correct an underlying physical cause of infertility

  • Treatment for erectile dysfunction if it has a physical cause

Check with your regional contractor before you receive services. They may require pre-authorization .

TRICARE excludes assisted reproductive technology services. But ART services may be available through the extended benefits authorized under the Supplemental Health Care Program. This is for service members who incurred a serious or severe injury or illness on active duty. Your illness or injury must lead to your inability to procreate without the use of ART services.
