Wigs

TRICARE covers one wig or hairpiece per beneficiary per lifetime, when you meet the following criteria:

  • Your attending physician must certify that your hair loss results from the treatment of a malignant disease, such as cancer.
  • You must certify that you haven’t previously obtained a wig or hairpiece through the U.S. government.

TRICARE doesn’t cover:

  • Hair transplants
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic methods intended to encourage hair regrowth
  • The cost of maintenance, supplies, and replacement of wigs or hairpieces
  • Wigs or hairpieces for hair loss caused by something other than the treatment of a malignant disease
