Other Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the training cost?

The TFC course is free to participants. However, there may be travel/per diem costs depending on the nearest DTF location. Your organization/unit will be responsible for funding any associated travel costs.

How long is the course?

The course is scheduled for approximately three days. This doesn’t include registration or off-site/at home pre-test and final exams.

Why take a virtual course?

The main advantage of the VTT is reduced travel expenses to each attendee’s organization/unit. The core course content remains the same as current classroom offerings. Attending at a DTF also provides a place away from the work station to concentrate on learning the extensive benefits and program changes of TRICARE. Instructors can answer specific questions that arise, and conduct a review prior to the final exam. Participants have a chance to interact with others who assist TRICARE beneficiaries and can learn from their related experiences.

What are the course requirements?

To complete the course and receive your certificate of completion, you must attend each day of the course, pass the final exam with a score of 80% or better, and complete the online end-of-course evaluation by the specified deadline.

How will I receive my certificate of completion?

Upon completion of the above requirements, you will receive a certificate of completion via e-mail from TRICARE University (approximately one week after completion of the online end of course evaluation).

Are there additional options to attend a TRICARE Fundamentals Certification Course?

For those who can’t attend a classroom or virtual offering, an online course is available. Participants can work through the course material at their own pace in the comfort of their home or office. Participants must complete all course modules, pass the final exam with an 80% or higher, and complete the end of course evaluation to receive a certificate of completion.
