Does TRICARE have a 24/7 nurse advice line?
Yes. It’s called the Military Health System (MHS) Nurse Advice Line. This advice line puts you in contact with a team of live, registered nurses who can answer health care questions and provide help with decisions regarding self-care at home or when it’s best to see a health care provider. You can reach a nurse anytime by phone, web chat, and video chat.

What is the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System(DEERS) A database of information on uniformed services members (sponsors), U.S.-sponsored foreign military, DoD and uniformed services civilians, other personnel as directed by the DoD, and their family members. You need to register in DEERS to get TRICARE. (DEERS)?
DEERS is a database of active duty and retired service members. It also includes family members and others who are eligible for TRICARE benefits. TRICARE eligibility and health plan enrollment is maintained in DEERS. If your DEERS information is incorrect, it could prevent you from being able to use your TRICARE benefits properly. If it’s been a while, take time now to log in to DEERS and review your information. Check out DEERS to learn more.
Does TRICARE cover urgent care?
Yes. But different health plan options have different rules for getting urgent care. These rules depend on your status. Active duty family members in TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select don’t need a referral for urgent care. When possible, you should go to a TRICARE network provider or a TRICARE-authorized urgent care center to avoid higher out-of-pocket costs. Active duty service members (ADSMs) in TRICARE Prime should seek urgent care at a military hospital or clinic, when available. To seek civilian urgent care, ADSMs need a referral unless the ADSM is in TRICARE Prime Remote. Go to Urgent Care to learn more.
