Advice Line: Call the TRICARE Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-874-2273 to speak with a nurse who can answer health-related questions, help you find a doctor, and schedule appointments.
After Hours Care: If you need medical assistance outside of the normal business hours, you must contact the TRICARE Nurse Advice Line (NAL) at 1-800-874-2273. Depending on the illness and/or circumstances, you may be given either self-treatment measures to perform at home, a next day appointment at the clinic, or directed to an emergency room or urgent care center. Active duty service members (ADSMs) must receive prior authorization from the TRICARE Nurse Advise Line or your PCM prior to seeking urgent care. Eligible family members and eligible beneficiaries do not need prior authorization from your PCM or the NAL before seeking urgent care.
In Case of an Emergency: If you have an emergency, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911. You do not need a referral or prior authorization before receiving emergency care. To learn more, visit www.tricare.mil/emergency.
