Telemedicine Options to Support Your Mental Health (East Region)


UPDATE: Doctor On Demand is now available to active duty service members (ADSMs). Referrals are required. If you’re an ADSM seeking care in the TRICARE network, you must get a referral for all mental health care, including telemental health care.

Getting care for your mental health shouldn’t be difficult. Humana Military’s telemedicine options give you the flexibility to get certain mental health care services online through video technology. This could be on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. As a TRICARE beneficiary, you can care for your health with Doctor on Demand or Telemynd. Both services can connect you to licensed therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists.

Appointments are available within a few days and are offered during the daytime and evening hours, seven days a week. You can see a provider at a convenient time for you in a private setting. You don’t have to leave your home.

Telemental health providers can help with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress and burnout
  • Isolation
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship issues
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Postpartum depression

Your copaymentA fixed dollar amount you may pay for a covered health care service or drug. amount will be the same as if the service was provided to you in person. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, there are zero copayments or cost-shares for telemedicine care. Keep in mind, this could change at any time.

Doctor On Demand isn’t currently available to active duty service members (ADSMs). And it’s important to remember that referral requirements may apply. If you’re an ADSM seeking care in the TRICARE network, you must get a referra for all mental health care, including telemental health care. TRICARE Prime active duty family members and retirees don’t need a referral or authorization to set an online care appointment with a distant mental health provider with certain exceptions.
