TMA Privacy Board

Introduction

The TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) Privacy and Civil Liberties Office (TMA Privacy Office) established a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Board, otherwise known as the TMA Privacy Board, to provide HIPAA Privacy Rule reviews and documentation for researchers that seek to use and/or disclose protected health information (PHI) managed by TMA. The TMA Privacy Board is critical for TMA’s compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule (45 CFR 160 & 164) and Department of Defense (DoD) Health Information Privacy Regulation (DoD 6025.18-R).

“On October 1, 2013, the Department of Defense established the Defense Health Agency (DHA) to manage the activities of the Military Health System. These activities include those previously managed by TRICARE Management Activity (TMA), which was disestablished on the same date. During the next several months, all TMA websites will change to reflect the new DHA. We appreciate your patience during this transition."
