Beneficiaries Who Don't Qualify for Medicare Part A

If you've signed-up for Medicare and you receive a notice that says you're not eligible for Medicare Part A based on your work history, you may be eligible through your current, divorced or deceased spouse. Find the scenario below that fits you, and follow the necessary steps to remain TRICARE-eligible. Even if you aren’t eligible for Part A at age 65, you're eligible for Part B.

Single, Never Married

Widow/Widower

Married/Divorced: Spouse Age 62 or Older

Sign-up for Medicare under your current/divorced spouse’s social security number no later than 2 months before you turn 65.

Entitled to Part A Under Your Spouse's (or Divorced Spouse's) SSN

Not Entitled to Part A Under Your Spouse's (or Divorced Spouse's) SSN

Married/Divorced: Spouse Younger than Age 62

When Your Spouse/Divorced Spouse Turns 62
