Mission Statement:

The Defense Health Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (DHCAPE) Division supports performance-based decision-making and execution for TRICARE Management Activity by applying appropriate scientific methods and operational support. The broad-based staff expertise provides a "think tank" for medical leaders throughout the Military Health System (MHS). Our goal is to generate timely, useable and objective research to help improve the Military Health System to advance the health of DoD beneficiaries.

  • Functional proponent for corporate data systems
    • Identify requirements for all stakeholders
    • Develop methods and algorithms to implement requirements
    • Ensure data is accurately processed
    • Detect data and computational errors
  • Survey programs
    • Beneficiary and provider satisfaction surveys
    • Population health surveys (measuring disease prevalence, burden of illness and lifestyle behaviors)
    • Ad hoc surveys (upon request or necessity)
    • MHS contractor incentive fee surveys (mail order pharmacy, health care services and support contractors)

  • MHS evaluation (programs, policies and practices)

TRICARE Management Activity contracts with marketing research companies to obtain feedback about you or your family member's experiences with your local military medical facility and TRICARE. These surveys are designed to help us gauge satisfaction and identify how we can improve patient experiences. No individual information is shared as a result of these surveys. Protecting your personal information is of vital importance and we assure you that our surveyors will not ask for your social security number, age, birth date, address or other personally identifiable information.
