Paying Enrollment Fees

You can pay your enrollment fees annually, quarterly or monthly. Click on your region to learn about your payment options:

Enrollment fees are usually non-refundable.

One exception is if you:

  • Are under age 65
  • Become eligible for Medicare
  • Decide to purchase Medicare Part B

If this is you, then you can:

  • Stay enrolled in TRICARE Prime
  • Have your enrollment fee waived
  • Get refunded for any payments you made

Consider paying monthly or quarterly to avoid overpaying.

Annual Payment

  • Single: $277.92
  • Family: $555.84

When you send your enrollment form, your regional contractor will prorate the fee from your enrollment date to September 30. After that, your annual payment is due on October 1 each year.

In most cases, TRICARE Prime enrollment fees won't be refunded. If you are close to age 65 and nearing eligibility for TRICARE For Life, you shouldn't choose to pay annually.

Quarterly Payment

  • Single: $69.48
  • Family: $138.96

When you send your enrollment form, your regional contractor will prorate the quarterly fee to cover the period until the next quarter (January 1, April 1, July 1 or October 1). After that, your quarterly payment is due on the first of each quarter.

Monthly Payment

  • Single: $23.16
  • Family: $46.32

Your can pay your first monthly payment with a:

  • Personal check
  • Cashier's check
  • Traveler's check
  • Money order
  • Credit card

After that, you can pay the monthly enrollment fees with

  • An allotment from retired pay, or
  • Through an electronic funds transfer (EFT), including a debit or credit card

If you select the monthly payment, you must pay your first quarterly payment when you send your enrollment form. This will allow time to set up the allotment or EFT.
